This Ground Socket is a key clamp designed to be cast into concrete, creating a stable base for vertical posts. It allows posts to be securely inserted and fixed with a locking set screw, while still remaining fully removable if required.
This fitting is ideal for temporary or semi-permanent structures such as barriers, signs, or modular handrail systems. If the post needs to be fixed directly to a concrete surface, a Railing Base Flange is recommended instead. When the post is not in place, the socket opening can be sealed with a plug (not included). Suitable for use in railing systems.
Installation with set screw
Our tubeclamps are equipped with a hardened Darcomet-coated set screw. The fitting is secured by tightening the set screw against the tube, creating a strong mechanical grip. This clamping system ensures a safe, slip-resistant connection between the tube and fitting, with a maximum slip load of up to 900 kg.
Installation is simple and only requires an Allen key. In many cases hand-tightening is sufficient, but for safety-critical applications we recommend using a torque wrench set to 39 Nm (29 ft/lb). Always use the correct size Allen key to prevent damage to the screw head. You can easily add the correct Allen keys to your order.
What size tube clamp do you need?
The size listed for a tube clamp always refers to the outside diameter of the tube it is designed to fit. The internal diameter of the fitting is intentionally manufactured slightly larger to accommodate normal tube tolerances. Once the set screw is tightened, the tube is securely clamped in place, creating a strong and reliable connection.
Material and manufacturing standard
All our tube clamps are manufactured from high-quality malleable cast iron in accordance with BS EN 1562 and produced to the BS 6681 (ISO 5922) standard. This ensures excellent tensile strength and impact resistance, making these fittings suitable for structural and load-bearing constructions.
Finish: hot-dip galvanised (ISO 1461)
This tubeclamp is hot-dip galvanised in accordance with BS 729 (ISO 1461). During this process the fitting is immersed in molten zinc, creating a strong and durable protective coating. The zinc layer protects the fitting against corrosion and makes it highly suitable for outdoor applications and long-term use in changing weather conditions. On request, the tubeclamps can also be powder coated in a different colour.
